Effects of this medicine

This medicine decreases blood ammonia concentrations by activating an urea cycle.
It is usually used to treat hyperammonemia due to N-acetyl-glutamate synthase deficiency, isovaleric acidaemia, methylmalonic acidaemia and propionic acidaemia.

Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist

  • If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)

Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)

  • Your dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor is ((        to be written by a healthcare professional))
  • In general, disperse the medicine in water (add over 2.5 mL of water per tablet and quietly shake) and take 100 to 250 mg /kg of the body weight a day in 2 to 4 divided doses before meals. The dosage may be adjusted according to the conditions. This preparation contains 200 mg of the active ingredient in a tablet. Strictly follow the instructions.
  • The dosage may be increased, if the disease gets worse due to a cold, excessive exercise, meals or constipation, etc.. Other therapy is considered, if the disease is aggravated rapidly.
  • Take the tablet without crunching and do not swallow a tablet in whole.
  • Do not use liquid except the water when dispersion.
  • If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as possible when you noticed. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
  • If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Precautions while taking this medicine

  • Blood ammonia level and symptoms, etc. are confirmed at the initiation of treatment and regularly, when taking this medicine. Receive these confirmations on your designated date and time.

Possible adverse reactions to this medicine

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include elevated mood, nervous system disorder, taste disorder and hyperhidrosis. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage conditions and other information

  • Keep out of the reach of children. Store by refrigeration (2 to 8 degree Celsius) every bottle, away from light, heat and moisture. Use this medicine after returning to room temperature.
  • Close the cap of the bottle tightly after open. Store at room temperature (below 30 degree Celsius), away from moisture.
  • Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
